Proline Promag W 0 x DN full bore: A world-first for electromagnetic flow metering

Thursday, 9th July 2020 @ 3.00pm - 3.45pm AEST
(1.00pm - 1.45pm AWST | 2.30pm - 3.15pm ACST)
Throughout industry, the accurate measurement of water and wastewater is indispensable for optimal process control. A variety of influences, such as a close-knit pipeline network or obstacles in the pipe, cause flow turbulences that affect accuracy. Promag W from Endress+Hauser features the “0 x DN full bore” option, a solution for this challenge that is the only one of its kind in the world: maximum measuring performance without tube restriction and thus without pressure loss.

Promag W 300/400/500 flowmeters with the “0 x DN full bore” option measure with high accuracy (±0.5%). They are particularly suitable for installation in tight spaces, e.g. on skids, as they do not need any inlet or outlet runs. Thus, Promag W can easily handle frequently occurring swirl downstream of obstacles such as pipe bends, insertion devices, build-up on the pipe wall, protruding seals or different inside diameters. Thanks to the design without restriction, there is no pressure loss.
Benefits of the Promag W 0 x DN
Best measuring performance independent of flow profiles

The first and only electromagnetic flowmeter with no inlet and outlet runs (0 x DN), no measuring tube restriction (full bore) and thus no pressure loss
Perfect solution for installation in space-restricted situations, e.g. on skids; especially after fittings and other turbulence-generating obstacles in the pipe
Innovative measurement signal analysis
The new and innovative measuring concept of Promag W (0 x DN) features multiple measuring electrodes that detect the flow. This generates a substantially higher density of measured data than for standard devices. Together with the refined signal analysis, reliable measurement results also for swirl are possible.
Flexible installation without pressure loss
Previously, in case of flow disturbances, plant operators either had to comply with the recommended inlet/outlet runs or use a device with a restricted measuring tube that calms swirl. Yet sufficiently long straight pipe sections are often not present and restrictions cause pressure loss along with higher energy consumption and costs for pump operation.
With the new option “0 x DN full bore”, reliable measured values, flexible installation and cost-efficient operation can now be combined easily.
Transmitter technology for seamless system integration
Promag W can be combined with different transmitters: as a compact (Proline 300/400) or remote version (Proline 400/500) with up to 4 in- and outputs. They make no compromise in terms of performance and accuracy. The digital signal processing begins in the intelligent sensor and is the basis for a reliable, accurate measurement. Full access to all measurement data, including diagnostic data acquired by Heartbeat Technology, is always possible via digital data transmission or the in- and outputs.
